As the percentage of people without Netflix continues to shrink, Netflix itself continues to expand their offerings.  Netflix changes out roughly 100 movies a month to help keep a fresh view for their subscribers.  They have been VERY successfully producing their own movies and series like “Orange is the New Black” and “House of Cards.”  They are beginning integration with other apps like Netfling, a new dating app that pairs you up with people with similar movie taste based on Netflix.

That brings us to today! Netflix has announced a Netflix lovers dream.  There is one catch though.  You have to build it yourself.  Netflix lovers tend to not be the most active people.  But maybe, just maybe, your hard work will make your next Netflix night a little easier.  May I present: The Switch!

The Switch is a DIY project with a complete how-to on Netflix’s website.  The set up involves a little soldering and a few purchased parts.  However, once it is built it may become your new favorite gadget.

Imagine that you just came home from a long day and want to do nothing more than binge watch Friends with your significant other. All you have to do is press your new button and everything is automatically set up for you.  The IR that you installed turns on your tv and turns Netflix on.  The app can turn your phone to silent or Do Not Disturb so that you can get away from it all.  At the same time, your phone places your favorite take out order at your favorite place (assuming you can order online).  It will set the mood with your smart lights.  There is even room for hackers to come up with more features and for this to keep growing.
