A lot of people have virus protection already on their computer but is one method good enough.  Does your antivirus do antimalware?  Does your internet security suite find rootkits or adware?  Finding complete and budget friendly options can be difficult to get your computer covered.  Even when you find your best option, there are always things that option misses or too many options slow the computer down.  While a good set up takes a while to find balance, VirusTotal is an option that all users can use to supplement their existing products.

VirusTotal is not a complete virus protection set up and should not be used as your only method of protecting your computer.  However, VirusTotal can keep you on a much safer track to computing.  For starters, VirusTotal analyzes files or URL’s and compares results across 50+ of the top virus detector companies out there.  To boil that down, if you download a file or are about to visit an unfamiliar website, then you should check it with VirusTotal in order to check to see if it is safe.
